經常和甲基異塞唑酮(methylisothiazolinone)合併使用，1970年代中期很多的消費者過敏事件，因此除了少數使用之後必須馬上用水沖掉的產品外，一般的化妝品已經很少使用 。因對於肌膚於黏膜具有刺激性，因此不適合添加於長時間接觸之產品，濃度過高時更可能造成化學灼傷。台灣 FDA 於 2013-11-18 規定限量為 0.0015%，使用於用後沖洗掉產品時限量 0.1%。

It is often used in combination with methylisothiazolinone. In the mid-1970s, there were many consumer allergies. Therefore, except for a few products that must be washed away with water immediately after use, general cosmetics are rarely used. As it is irritating to skin and mucous membrane, it is not suitable to be added to products exposed for a long time. If the concentration is too high, it may cause chemical burns. On November 18, 2013, FDA in Taiwan set the limit of 0.0015% and the limit of 0.1% when washing off the product after use.
